Big B regrets missing Kolkata Film Fest's inaugural ceremony, plans to send his well-researched speech to WB govt

The Bachchans started the day on a spiritual note before the party. Amitabh Bachchan (left) shared pictures of wife Jaya (top right), son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai, and granddaughter Aaradhya on Twitter, and wished his fans.

While the Big B, Jaya and Abhishek were dressed in white and gold, mum-daughter duo Aishwarya and Aaradhya were twinning in red.

The senior Bachchan, who has over 38.9 mn followers on Twitter, shared frequent updates in the run-up to the party. He posted a glimpse of 'Jalsa' and the decor on Twitter. While the entrance was decorated with lights, bright and festive colours were used indoor. The idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh were decorated with marigold.

The King of Bollywood trended on Twitter over Diwali weekend, thanks to his wit, humour and charm on David Letterman's show. Shah Rukh Khan was all that and more at 'Jalsa' as he and wife Gauri made heads turn. While SRK opted for an all-black achkan with a pair of matching pyjamas, Mrs Khan dazzled in a pink-white lehenga with sheer-embellished sleeves and dupatta.

And that's not all. At the end of the party, King Khan also made news with his saviour act as he rushed to rescue Archana Sadanand, the manager of Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, when her lehenga caught fire. Even Salman Khan lauded the act and called him a 'real hero'.

The Ambanis turned show-stoppers at the Diwali bash hosted by the Bachchans. RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani and wife Nita were accompanied by their rumoured would-be daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant (left in left pic).

While Merchant and Mukesh were twinning in shades of white, the business tycoon completed his look with a maroon Nehru jacket. Mrs Ambani looked stunning in a pink salwar-kameez with gold embroidery.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli and his actress-wife Anushka Sharma looked perfect in Sabyasachi outfits for Bachchan's Diwali bash. While Kohli looked dapper in an all-white ensemble paired with a matching Nehru jacket and a red, silk pocket square, Sharma looked gorgeous in a colourful outfit featuring floral motifs on the blouse and dome-shaped structures on the lehenga.

Bipasha Basu may have been away from the arc lights for a while now. But that didn't stop her from looking like a million bucks as she landed at 'Jalsa' with her model-actor husband, Karan Singh-Grover in tow. The Bengali beauty, who has shared screen space with Bachchan Sr & Jr, looked ethereal in a flaming-red, silk saree with her hair tied back, and chunky jewellery. The actor couple also posed with the hosts.

Newly-elected Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray, who made a winning debut from Worli, took some time off from all things politics. The Jr Thackeray was accompanied by his mother Rashmi who looked festive in shades of yellow and coral.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar whose latest release 'Housefull 4' has become the highest-grossing film in the franchise, dropped by with wife Twinkle Khanna and son Aarav. They were dressed in shades of pastel.

The B-town celebrities put their best foot, and look, forward for the party.

While Janhvi Kapoor (L) opted for a glittering gold ensemble, Katrina Kaif (R) dazzled in a red and gold lehenga. Kartik Aaryan (C) opted for a velvet-green achkan for the evening.

The Kapoors and Khers were all about family at the party.

While Rishi Kapoor, along with wife Neetu and daughter Riddhima, opted for shades of pastel, Anupam Kher with wife Kirron and son Sikandar made an appearance in subtle hues of grey.
