Bidding farewell to Maeve: 'Sex Education' star Emma Mackey won't return for Season 5

German movie 'All Quiet on the Western Front' bagged seven BAFTAs, including Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Musical Score, Cinematography and Best Film Not in the English Language.

Film-maker Edward Berger won the Best Director award for 'All Quiet on the Western Front'. He also won an award in the Adapted Screenplay category with Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell for their anti-war movie.

All eyes were on Colin Farrell-starrer 'The Banshees of Inisherin' when it bagged the Best British Film Award. Martin McDonagh took home the Original Screenplay award for the movie. Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon bagged the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, for the film.

Martin McDonagh’s 'The Banshees of Inisherin' is a bleakly comic story of a friendship gone sour. The Irish tragicomedy is also competing with 'All Quiet on the Western Front', 'Avatar: The Way of Water', 'Elvis', 'Everything Everywhere All at Once', 'The Fabelmans', 'Tár', 'Top Gun: Maverick', 'Triangle of Sadness', and 'Women Talking' for the Best Picture Award at Oscars.

'Elvis' also had a significant win at the BAFTAs. Austin Butler, who essayed the role of 'Elvis' in his movie, bagged the Best Actor Award. The film also won the Best Casting (Nikki Bartlett and Denise Chamian), Costume Design (Catherine Martin) and Makeup and Hair awards.

Cate Blanchett won the Best Actress prize for the orchestral drama 'Tár'. This is the fourth BAFTA trophy for the actress. In the Todd Field-directed psychological drama, the Australian star plays Lydia Tar, the first female chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, who is accused of sexual abuse.

India's climate change documentary 'All That Breathes' lost the Best Documentary award to 'Navalny'. Directed by Daniel Roher, 'Navalny' details the 2020 assassination attempt on Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny who was poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent.

After bagging several awards at the Golden Globes, 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' nabbed the Best Editing award (Paul Rogers) at BAFTAs. The absurdist comedy-drama stars Michelle Yeoh as a Chinese-American woman, who is being audited by the Internal Revenue Service and discovers that she must connect with parallel universe versions of herself to prevent a powerful being from causing the destruction of the multiverse.

The EE Rising Star Award, which is voted for by the public, was given to the French-British actress Emma Mackey. The award was started in 2005 in the memory of casting director Mary Selway, who happened to be the BAFTA ceremony host Richard E Grant and as admitted by Grant, Mary Selway changed his life.
