Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh dominated the weekend performance with Punjabi beats as he became the first-ever Punjabi singer to perform at the popular US music festival in the Coachella Valley in California's Indio.
The music and arts festival is scheduled to take place over two weekends. Dosanjh was part of the day two line-up of the first weekend, which also saw performances by global music stars such as Blackpink, Charli XCX, Labrinth, Kid Laroi, Bad Bunny and Blink-182.
Other stars who are set to perform at Coachella include Jai Paul, American indie rock supergroup Boygenius with Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.
Dressed in an all-black traditional Punjabi attire, the 39-year-old global sensation completed his look with yellow gloves and white-black sneakers. Bowing his head in a small prayer, Dosanjh entered the stage and received a cheering welcome from his fans amid fireworks.
The official Instagram handle of Coachella posted a glimpse of Dosanjh's performance. "Diljit Dosanjh got Sahara shining," the post read.
Later, the singer also posted his backstage moments from the event on Instagram. He was accompanied by a live band and bhangra dance troupe during his 45-minute-long gig.
Rapper Badshah and Dosanjh's 'Udta Punjab' co-stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt also congratulated him on his historic moment. Other B-town stars like Kriti Sanon, Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, and Sonam Kapoor, among others, also celebrated Dosanjh's epic performance.

'Jab We Met' director Imtiaz Ali's daughter Ida, who was at Coachella, witnessed the magic live. The film-maker dedicated a special post for his daughter and the first Punjabi artist to perform at the US event.
Calling it a big day for Punjabi music, veteran folk singer Gurdas Maan congratulated Dosanjh for becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform at the American music festival.
