Designers are bringing forward their love for heritage this spring. The Amazon Fashion Week Spring-Summer (S/S) edition re-introduced crafts of Paitthan in a contemporary manner. Produced in Aurangabad, paitthan craft involves intricately woven motifs of birds, parrots and flowers.

Romantic, feminine dressing continues to be prevalent through the season, generating a soft and sensual mood. Dainty floral prints in sheer layers of silk and chiffon, prettified with soft dusted pastels, are updating whimsical dresses and skirts for spring.

A gentle yet urban theme introduces a relaxed mode of dressing. Natural fibres like linen and silk nonchalantly wrap and drape sensuously this season. The theme is centred on a modern feminine traveller on a worldly adventure.

Festival bohemia shirks the desert for a worldly, nomadic point of view. Luxurious textures, trans-cultural prints and exotic patterns form for a free-spirited take on commercial summer dressing.

A seasonal staple - the bohemian aesthetic, maintains its hold over the market. An eclectic look that combines folkloric and 1970s references, lightweight, loose-fit styles provide the foundation for a riot of print and embroidered patterns. Combinations of crisp white and vibrant primary colours award this nostalgic look a new feel.

A fusion of dramatic and bold colours

Vibrancy and romance flows from tropical-inspired environs of the Côte d'Azur. Silhouettes are bathed in fluid light materials that lend perfectly to cocktail hour. Shoulders are provocatively exposed with sophisticated asymmetric cuts and framed with deep silk flounces.

The minimalist trend evolves with an emphasis on structure. A quiet and sensual mood is created through the use of delicate white and pale hues in light materials. So, pink hues remain a key colour of S/S 17, appearing across all manner of items. Blush pink is also big across menswear this season.

In a move on from the spiced yellow of autumn-winter 16/17, a cheerful sunshine yellow emerges as the must-have at the S/S 17 trade shows, adding a playful pop of colour to the season's sun dresses and woven tops.
