Shravya Varma, the stylist who dressed Kashyap for the big day, also shared an Instagram story from the wedding.
A day before the wedding, Kashyap shared pictures of his odugu (sacred thread ceremony) with family and friends. Friend of the couple and fellow badminton player Gurusai Dutt attended the 32-year-old shuttler's jeelakarra bellam ceremony (similar to the haldi, but instead a paste of cumin seeds and jaggery is applied on the groom & bride), which is an important ritual in Telugu weddings.
The couple will host a star-studded reception on Sunday at the same venue. Earlier, Kashyap had shared on pictures on Instagram of the couple inviting actor Chiranjeevi, Governor of Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan, badminton league team owner VRK Rao and coach Pullela Gopichand for the reception.
Two versions of their reception invitation had also gone viral on social media, one - a pink card from Nehwal's parents, and the other - a beige and red card from Nehwal and Kashyap.
The couple reportedly met at coach Gopichand's badminton academy in 2005 where they trained together, and were dating for a decade before getting married.
32-year-old Kashyap, an Arjuna Awardee, hails from Hyderabad and created history by becoming the first Indian to reach the men's singles quarterfinals at the 2012 London Olympics. While 28-year-old Nehwal, one of India's shuttle superstar, has won 20 major titles, an Olympic bronze and a silver at the World Championships. This marriage will mark another chapter in recent Indian sporting matches after those of Dipika Pallikal-Dinesh Karthik, Ishant Sharma-Pratima Singh and wrestlers, Geeta Phogat-Pawan Kumar and Sakshi Malik-Satyawart Kadian.
