Bengaluru techie reveals what makes a salary 'dangerous' in Bengaluru: 'Not because it is too little, but....'

Above a certain threshold, a high salary can become “dangerous”. Taking to X, techie Shashank Dixit, who lived in Bengaluru, explained how earning over Rs 2 lakh in India’s ‘Silicon Valley’ per month could be ‘dangerous’.

According to Dixit, the concern was not that the salary was inadequate, but that it was comfortable enough to remove the urgency to question one’s circumstances or seek something better. An income at that level could be sufficient to reassure parents that everything was going well, enjoy weekends without financial stress and maintain a reasonably comfortable lifestyle.

In his view, the real danger lies in earning just enough to feel settled while becoming less motivated to examine whether the job, career or lifestyle is truly fulfilling.


He admitted that at some point, your salary became your identity, and you get so used to the comfort zone that you focus on maintaining that income and not boosting your value.

He concluded that since people with this salary feel like they must keep the job at any cost and postpone their dreams and ambitions.
