Bengaluru techie left job at top IT firm, returned to Mysuru. Today, he earns Rs 1 crore per month

No risk, no gain. A story of a Bengaluru techie who gave up a secure job, returned to Mysore, and built a flourishing business that earned him Rs 1 crore per year has gone viral on X. Taking to the microblogging platform, an engineer named Lalith shared his inspiring journey. Supreeth Kashyap joined a major IT and management consultancy firm in 2017 in Bengaluru. Eventually he left the cushy job and returned to Mysuru, where he eventually started Wellbi, a sustainable clothes company with just Rs 10 lakhs.

Made from eco-friendly materials, including linen, bamboo, and organic cotton, the brand specialised in innerwear and daily wear. In the first year, the revenue was Rs 11 lakh; however, in 2025, the earnings increased to Rs 5.6 crore. Currently, the monthly revenue is about Rs 1 crore. Last, but not the least, Rs 3 crore was raised from investors.

The business is now planning to expand to the United States. Digital growth strategist Bharath Prajapati wrote on LinkedIn that Wellbi currently employs more than 15 full-time workers and collaborates with about 40 craftspeople. His declared objective was to generate jobs in rural India and Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities so that people wouldn't constantly need to relocate to larger cities in search of employment.



In an interview with the Hindustan Times, he revealed that he left Bengaluru for peace of mind. “I specifically wanted to build something from Mysuru. In most metro cities, there is already so much crowd, traffic and constant pressure. Mysuru offered a different environment, with a better sense of space and peace, and I felt it was the right place to build something meaningful,” he stated.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Supreeth holds a bachelor's in engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore.

Supreeth Kashyap’s story shows that to make it in business, you have to take risks and even let go of a plum job and not be afraid to build something from scratch even if there is the risk of failure.
