Bengaluru roads force Zerodha founder Nithin Kamath to put his Porsche plans on hold!
Bengaluru’s potholed roads force Zerodha founder Nithin Kamath to put off plans to buy a Porsche.

Nithin Kamath is no stranger to taking risks. The founder of Bengaluru-based startup, Zerodha, has been trading in the stock market for almost two decades and is used to betting big and winning big. At times, even losing big.

But there are limits even to his risk appetite. Bengaluru roads have ensured that. During a chat with ETPanache in Mumbai recently, Kamath shared that his dream wheels would be a Porsche. Although not a difficult purchase for this startup hotshot, he has steered clear of buying one, despite wanting it “forever”.

The reason: “Bangalore roads are just horrible. I mean every pothole, every speed breaker. It just hurts. There are ditches in the middle of the road. It’s terrible,” Kamath said.

And those complaining about Mumbai’s roads, can take heart. “At least in Mumbai, it isn’t that bad. There is traffic, sure. But the roads aren’t so horrible,” he said.

It looks like Kamath’s Audi will have to suffice for the moment. Unless the Bengaluru municipal authority takes note and fixes the roads.
