Bengaluru remains cool while other cities almost melt in summer
What makes Bengaluru tick?

The weather. While other cities swelter with temperatures soaring into the 40s, Bengaluru these days seems to have forgotten the concept of summer. Even during the middle of the day, I can sit out in the lawn strumming my guitar without the fear of getting scorched. Only in Bengaluru.

What is your favourite Bengaluru moment?

Sitting in the Member's Stand at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and watching Chris Gayle belt one way over the roof above my head, en route to a blistering 175 in 66 balls.

There is nothing quite like watching RCB's batting decimate the opposition bowling from the comfort of the Member's Stand, and that particular innings by Gayle will always stand out in my memory.

If you were the dictator of Bengaluru, what is the first change you would bring? Why?

On my first day as the dictator of Bengaluru, I would put Dr. E Sreedharan, India's Metro Man, in charge of Bengaluru's infrastructure, with the objective of putting the construction of the , Metro on a fast track, and integrat ing the road transport systems with the Metro. I would give him a free reign for this task, as we desperately need to upgrade our road and metro transportation in frastructure, and he is India's man for the job.

Who is your favourite Bengalurean? Why?

Rahul Dravid. He has always been an inspiration to me. In fact, we have sought to model the Big Basket brand along the lines of his persona.Consistent, highly committed, transparent, steady and above all, always dependable. The Wall, indeed. I just hope he shifts from Rajasthan Royals to RCB as a mentor!

If not Bengaluru, which city? Why?

I would have to say Mumbai, the city I was born and brought up in and having all my three sons born there.Growing up in Kala Nagar opposite Sahitya Sahwas, the colony Sachin Tendulkar grew up in (albeit at an age when he was too young to even lift a cricket bat!), taking walks with schoolmates along Marine Drive and Napean Sea Road without a care in the world, and playing tons of cricket at the MIG Cricket Club.
