Bella Hadid’s life before fame

Before gravitating toward the world of fashion, Bella had her eyes fixed on reaching the Olympics as she grew up riding horses. She even began competing at an early age. For years she seriously considered pursuing equestrian competition. However, her battle with Lyme disease forced her to give up her Olympic dreams, though horses remain a central part of her life.

In 2014, Bella moved to New York City after finishing her high school. She enrolled at Parsons School of Design to study photography. As modelling opportunities came her way, she eventually left school to pursue the profession full-time.

At age 16, she made an appearance in a commercial project for Flynn Skye and subsequently worked on Hanna Hayes' Fall/Winter 2013 collection. She also featured in campaigns for Chrome Hearts, the Los Angeles luxury label founded by Richard and Laurie Lynn Stark.
