Avanti Birla says that everything she knows about parenting, she has learnt from husband Yash Birla.
“He’s the best parent that I have seen,” she says about the Yash Birla Group chairman.
Avanti and Yash are parents to three children — sons Vendant and Nirvaan, who are 26 and 24 respectively, and 18-year-old daughter Shloka. “I have never seen anyone so involved and there for the children. He’s just amazing,” Avanti tells ETPanache.
Yash turned to spiritualty to help him deal with the loss of his parents and sister. Avanti says that during their trips to holy places, the children were with them. “He brought them up with so much spirituality around us,” she says. “We would often go to holy places or for pilgrimages or Himalayas trekking. But we never left the children behind.”
This closeness shows decades later, with the parents having developed a strong bond with the children. “I can see the roots coming back in them. Yash has invested so much time and patience in teaching them, it’s beautiful to see as they get older,” she says.
