Archana Puran Singh’s loud, distinctive laughter is now a highlight of The Great Indian Kapil Show, often featured in viral memes. But in the 1990s, her laughter had a darker tone, famously terrifying viewers during her chilling appearance on Zee Horror Show, leaving a haunting impression instead of joy.

Today her loud, hearty, borderline boisterous laughter is a staple at the Great Indian Kapil Show and a subject of many memes. But in the 90s, Archana Puran Singh’s laughter gave audiences nightmares instead of making them chuckle. Long before she appeared in the Kapil Sharma Show, the actress became an overnight sensation after appearing in the pilot episode, 'Dastak,' of the now iconic horror TV series, Zee Horror Show.

A Haunting Debut on Indian Television

Few can forget the scene where Archana’s head is shown sitting not so pretty on a dinner plate and cackling! In that scene, actress Shagufta Ali serves the plate, only to be greeted by Archana’s disembodied, cackling head. What is meme fodder today once gave countless viewers sleepless nights.

The Plot of Dastak

The episode, titled Dastak, was a two-part story first broadcast in 1993. The narrative revolved around a deadly love triangle involving Pankaj Dheer, who played a man that murders his physically challenged wife, Julie, to inherit her wealth and pursue a relationship with another woman, portrayed by Shagufta Ali. Julie’s ghost, however, returns from the afterlife seeking revenge, setting the stage for a gripping supernatural drama. The episode also featured seasoned actors such as Sameer Kakkar, Narendranath Malhotra, Mac Mohan, and Sudhir.

Zee Horror Show: A Cult Classic

Created by the Ramsay Brothers, Zee Horror Show aired from 1993 to 2001 and became one of Indian television’s most memorable horror series. With eerie soundtracks and dramatic storytelling, the weekly show left a lasting impression on viewers throughout the '90s.

Life Today: Comedy, Content, and Crores

Fast forward to the present, Archana Puran Singh is not only a staple on comedy television but also runs a thriving YouTube vlog. According to a Times of India report, her estimated wealth is valued at Rs 235 crore. She reportedly earns around Rs 10 lakh for each appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show.
