'BB 14' star Rubina Dilaik reveals one of her baby daughters is a victim of colourism: 'This is so bad...'
Rubina Dilaik is confronting colourism directed at her twin daughters, Edhaa and Jeeva, by addressing skin tone comparisons and unsolicited advice for lightening their skin. She emphasizes her daughters' beauty regardless of complexion and dismiss...

In one of her latest vlogs, Rubina candidly shared a troubling issue that has repeatedly surfaced since the birth of her daughters, Edhaa and Jeeva. The actress disclosed that visitors often draw unnecessary comparisons between the babies’ skin tones.
While one child has a deeper complexion and the other is lighter, some people make unkind observations, attempting to pit the two against each other based on appearance. Rubina firmly expressed her disapproval of such remarks and emphasized that she refuses to entertain any form of colour-based judgment in her household.
"“My one baby is little dusky, the other one is fair... and people come and compare, which is so bad. But I always tell them that my daughter is beautiful, forget fair or dusky. And I tell them, never bring this comparison into my home.." she said.
She further explained that unsolicited advice, especially from extended family and acquaintances, is commonly directed her way. Many suggest traditional beauty treatments—such as turmeric or lentil-based pastes—to lighten her daughters’ skin. Rubina clarified that she dismisses these suggestions without hesitation. She stressed that her daughters are perfect the way they are and that altering their appearance is not a consideration in her parenting.
Determined to raise confident and self-assured children, Rubina has already begun nurturing their sense of worth and identity. Though Edhaa and Jeeva are just 20 months old, the actress has started whispering daily affirmations to instill self-love and a positive mindset from a young age. Rubina reflected on her personal journey of learning to love herself, noting that it took her until her thirties to develop a healthy self-image. She now wishes to equip her daughters with that strength early in life.
Rubina and her husband, actor Abhinav Shukla, tied the knot in Shimla in June 2018. The couple became parents to twin girls on December 27, 2023, and later introduced them publicly during Navratri in 2024. Through her unwavering stand, Rubina continues to promote dignity, inclusivity, and acceptance—starting within her own home.
