Bandar OTT release date locked: When and where to watch the Anurag Kashyap directorial starring Bobby Deol

Bobby Deol and Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar is set to make its digital debut after its theatrical run. The crime drama follows a television actor whose life changes drastically after he is accused of rape by his former partner. The film looks at how public opinion, media attention and social judgement can take over a case even before the truth has been established.

What is Bandar about?

Bandar centres on Samar Mehra, played by Bobby Deol, a once-popular television actor whose career is already on the decline. His situation gets much worse after his former partner accuses him of rape.

The accusation soon turns his life upside down. Samar finds himself caught between a legal battle and a growing media frenzy, while public opinion begins to shape how people see him. The film also takes viewers into his experience inside an overcrowded undertrial prison.


The story is rooted in the wider #MeTooForMen conversation and explores questions around consent, accusations, public judgement and the justice system. Rather than focusing only on the courtroom proceedings, Bandar looks at what happens to a person when an allegation becomes a punishment even before a final verdict.

Bandar OTT release date and platform

After its theatrical release, Bandar is now coming to streaming. The film will premiere on ZEE5 on August 28, 2026.

ZEE5 announced the date through a poster from the film. The platform wrote, “When a man is accused, is the verdict already decided? Witness a man’s life turn upside down after an accusation. #Bandar, premieres 28th Aug only on Hindi Zee 5.”

The film was released in Indian theatres on June 5, 2026, following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. It had earlier been scheduled for a May 22 theatrical release before the date was changed.

Bobby Deol in a different role

Bobby Deol leads the film as Samar and takes on a character far removed from the larger-than-life roles that have recently brought him back into the spotlight.

Talking about the experience, Deol said the role “demanded a lot from me, not just as an actor, but as a person.” He added that he had to “let go of my inhibitions, trust the process, and fully surrender to Anurag’s vision.”

The actor also praised Kashyap’s approach to filmmaking, saying he “never takes the obvious route” and encourages actors to explore “the uncomfortable, the unexpected.” Deol described working on the film as “both challenging and liberating” and said it has “a special place in my heart.”

Alongside Bobby Deol, the film features Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Sapna Pabbi, Raj B. Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Indrajith Sukumaran, Riddhi Sen and Nagesh Bhonsle in important roles.

Bandar has been directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee. The film is produced by Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks and backed by Zee Studios.
