Some bonds stand the test of time, reminding us that genuine connections can grow through trust, patience and compassion. Meaningful relationships often develop quietly and become stronger with every shared experience. They show how kindness, empathy and understanding can create lasting equations that transcend differences. And sometimes, the most extraordinary connections can flourish between humans and the natural world. On World Elephant Day today, August 12, such a story has come to light featuring Bipin Kashyap from Assam, associated with the Kaziranga National Park, who shares an endearing bond with an elephant named Bhima.

Assam man’s lovely bond with elephant Bhima

According to a report by The Better India, Bipin was only 16 years old when he met Bhima. He took care of the lost and frightened baby elephant, earning the animal’s trust with nothing but patience and a few bananas. Slowly, their friendship deepened with Bhima becoming more of a family member than a rescued animal.

But Bhima’s entry into Bipin’s life brought a fresh change. As years rolled on, the young boy with a fondness for wildlife devoted himself to the rescue and care of injured and displaced elephants across Assam. With each rescue, Bipin understood elephants a little better and strengthened his belief in the fact that kindness can be felt even by these majestic beasts. Although Bipin takes equal care of all the elephants, Bhima holds a special place in his heart.

When Assam man celebrated an elephant’s first birthday

Earlier this year, a video of Bipin celebrating the 1st birthday of another elephant named Momo at the Kaziranga National Park went viral. The video captured Bipin celebrating Momo’s birthday with an assortment of foods including a jungle-themed cake, fruits like apples and bananas, a wide variety of vegetables, and a whole lot of love.

Bipin gently wrapped a ‘Happy Birthday’ banner around Momo’s neck as the animal happily enjoyed its meal. Later in the clip, Momo’s face was seen smeared with a little cake. The clip received multiple reactions from the internet, with many appreciating at Bipin’s loving gesture towards Momo. Others gushed at the adorability of the elephant.
