Bajaj Auto relaunches Chetak in an electric avatar, priced at Rs 1 lakh onwards

Bajaj Auto on Tuesday announced the formal launch of its much awaited electric scooter Chetak at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1 to 1.15 lakh in Pune and Bengaluru post all the subsidies.

Unveiled in October 2019, the Chetak is now open for bookings with test rides at select KTM showrooms in Pune and Bengaluru commencing by the end of this month.

The vehicle will be available in two variants - Urbane and Premium. A home charging station is included in the package. The Chetak Urbane edition with Drum Brakes is priced at Rs 1 lakh, while the Chetak Premium edition with disc brakes and luxury finish will be priced at Rs 1.15 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom prices and inclusive of applicable subsidies and exclusive of insurance and road tax.


The customers can book the vehicle online on Chetak website with an amount of Rs 2000 and the deliveries will commence from end of February 2020. The entire booking process can be concluded online for a friction free exercise, claimed the company.

Rakesh Sharma, ED, Bajaj Auto said the return of legendary Chetak in a modern electric Avatar is a proud moment.

The company claims that the vehicle needs minimal maintenance with service interval of 12000 kilometres or one year whichever is earlier. This comes with an overall warranty of 3 years or 50000 kilometres inclusive of lithium ion battery.

Sharma said the objective is to provide an attractive and viable option to commuters with different needs and expectations through the Chetak range. To achieve this the company has offered a 'highly advanced and elegant looking' electric scooter at an affordable price.
