About ‘Bad Newz’
Directed by Anand Tiwari, ‘Bad Newz’ is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor film ‘Good Newz’. Produced by Dharma Productions, Amazon Prime, and Leo Media Collective, the film revolves around the rare medical phenomenon of heteropaternal superfecundation where twins are born with the same mother, but different fathers. The movie narrates the story of Saloni Bagga, (Dimri) an ambitious chef, who ends up having a fling with her ex-husband Akhil Chadda (Vicky Kaushal) and a restaurant owner Gurbir Pannu (Ammy Virk). Soon, Saloni finds herself pregnant with twins from two different fathers!
Consequently, her two suitors begin to compete to prove themselves as capable fathers and convince Saloni to get with one of them. Who will she choose?
The movie was earlier named ‘Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam’ but later changed to ‘Bad Newz’.
In an interview with IANS, Dimri said she was nervous about ‘Bad Newz’ as it was her first brush with comedy. Known for her intense roles in movies such as ‘Bulbbul’, ‘Qala’ and ‘Animal’, she admitted that maintaining comic timing was a bit difficult for her and she was also intimidated by her co-stars both of whom are known to have impeccable comic timing.
“I have always done a lot of films in the drama genre, but I feel that as an actor, it is really important to keep doing different things and keep challenging yourself. It was difficult for me, especially with Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk, as they are very talented and their comic timing is very good."I have found comedy a little difficult since the beginning,” she told the news agency.
