Awkward exchange: Elon Musk meets Erodgan with son X Æ A-Xii in tow, Turkish president asks 'where’s your wife?'

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, found himself in an unexpected and somewhat awkward situation during a recent meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The awkward exchange occurred as Musk attended the meeting with his toddler son, X AE A-12 Musk, often referred to simply as 'X'.

As the two men engaged in small talk, President Erdogan posed a question that caught Musk off guard, "Where is your wife?"


In response, Musk calmly stated, "Oh, she's in San Francisco. We're separated, I take care of him mostly," referring to his son X.

Musk's Unconventional Personal Life

X is one of the children Musk shares with pop singer Grimes, with whom he has maintained an on-again, off-again relationship. Their 'semi-separated' status was announced in September 2021, but the couple continues to co-parent their children.

Apart from X, the duo welcomed another child named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk (sometimes called Y) in 2021. Interestingly, the recent revelation of a third child, Tau Techno Mechanicus, surfaced in a biography of Musk.

Musk's complex family situation has been a topic of interest, given his public advocacy for increasing the world's population, despite having ten known children with three different women.

Meeting At Turkish House

According to AP, the meeting between Musk and President Erdogan took place at the Turkish House, situated near the United Nations headquarters in New York City. The latter had traveled to New York to participate in the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Although the meeting began with an unusual question about Musk's marital status, it ultimately evolved into discussions about technological advancements and potential business collaborations between Musk's enterprises and Turkey.

Erdogan's Offer For SpaceX Collaboration

Their conversation touched upon various topics, including potential technological collaborations between SpaceX and Turkey.

Erdogan suggested the possibility of making SpaceX's Starlink available in Turkey and encouraged Musk to explore the establishment of a Tesla factory in the country, which would mark the company's seventh global manufacturing facility.

During their meeting, President Erdogan showcased Turkey's technological advancements, emphasizing the 'Digital Turkey' vision and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

He also praised Turkey's electric car, Togg, and invited Musk to attend Teknofest, an annual technology and aerospace event held in İzmir. The aim was to explore potential collaborations between SpaceX and Turkey's space program.

This meeting comes on the heels of criticism aimed at Musk's social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), for restricting access to certain content in response to a request from the Turkish government during the country's general election in May.
