Emraan Hashmi is back as Shivam Pandit after nearly two decades, and Awarapan 2 has now arrived in theatres. The sequel to the 2007 cult film released on August 14, 2026, and has brought back a character that many fans still strongly associate with Hashmi. What is Awarapan 2 about?

The film brings Emraan Hashmi back as Shivam Pandit, the character he played in the original Awarapan. Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi are also part of the sequel, while Nitin Kakkar has taken over as director from Mohit Suri, who helmed the 2007 film.

The new story moves Shivam further into a world of crime, love, sacrifice and redemption. Rather than simply depending on memories of the first film, the sequel attempts to take his journey forward and place him in another difficult situation.

The film has also opened strongly at the box office. Sacnilk reported that Awarapan 2 collected around Rs 22 crore net in India on its first day, across 9,033 shows. Its worldwide gross stood at about Rs 28.90 crore, according to the same source.
