Emraan Hashmi is enjoying one of the biggest box-office successes of his career with Awarapan 2. The sequel has picked up strong momentum after its release and is continuing to attract audiences even after the opening weekend. What started as a nostalgia-driven release has now turned into a major commercial milestone for the actor. The film has not only crossed a major worldwide mark but has also achieved a new record in Hashmi’s filmography.

Awarapan 2 crosses Rs 130 crore worldwide

Awarapan 2 has crossed the Rs 130 crore mark worldwide in just four days. According to Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 9.25 crore net in India on Day 4, taking its India net total to Rs 91 crore. Its India gross collection has reached Rs 109.02 crore so far.

The film also maintained a steady run in overseas markets. It earned Rs 2.50 crore gross overseas on Monday, taking its overseas total to Rs 21.80 crore. With the domestic and international earnings combined, the film's worldwide gross stands at Rs 130.82 crore after four days.

The Monday figure came from 10,849 shows, showing that the film continued to command a significant theatrical presence even after the extended opening weekend.

The film had already collected Rs 81.75 crore net and Rs 98.10 crore gross in India during its first three days, according to Sacnilk. Its strong performance has now helped it become Emraan Hashmi’s highest-grossing solo film, giving the actor a major box-office milestone.

Emraan Hashmi film sees strong opening weekend

The film opened with Rs 22 crore on Friday. Its collections then jumped considerably on Saturday, when it earned Rs 33.75 crore. The rise was helped by the Independence Day holiday as well as an increase in the number of shows.

Awarapan 2 had around 9,033 shows on its opening day, while the number rose to 10,496 shows on Saturday. The film collected Rs 26 crore on Sunday, registering a decline from Saturday but still maintaining a strong pace.

The Monday drop was more pronounced, as expected after the extended weekend. However, the film managed to earn Rs 9.25 crore net, taking its domestic total to Rs 91 crore.

Its performance has also helped the film move ahead of Batwara 1947 at the box office. If the film manages to maintain a similar pace on Tuesday, it could move closer to the Rs 100 crore net mark in India by the end of Day 5.

Awarapan 2 turns profitable

The sequel's box-office performance is particularly major considering its reported production budget of around Rs 45 crore. With the India net collection already reaching Rs 91 crore and the worldwide gross crossing Rs 130 crore, the film has comfortably moved beyond its reported production cost.

Discounted ticket prices at several multiplexes on Tuesday could further help the film maintain footfall. Lower ticket rates often encourage more viewers to watch a film during the post-weekend period, potentially giving Awarapan 2 another boost.

The film's performance has been attributed partly to the nostalgia surrounding the Awarapan franchise and Emraan Hashmi's popularity.
