After a long wait, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which was released in December 2025, is finally set for its digital debut. The James Cameron directorial turned out to be a massive commercial success and also won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the 98th Academy Awards. With its theatrical run now over, fans in India will soon be able to watch or revisit the visually stunning film from the comfort of their homes.

Where to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash in India?

Before its official streaming release, the film will first be available as a Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) title. Starting March 31, 2026, viewers can rent or purchase the film on platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. This pay-per-view model allows audiences early access to the film ahead of its OTT premiere.

As for its streaming release, Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to arrive globally on Disney+, which remains the official home for the Avatar franchise. In India, the film is likely to stream on JioHotstar. According to 123Telugu report, while the makers have not announced a confirmed OTT release date yet, industry reports suggest that it could premiere sometime between April and June 2026, following the usual release pattern of previous films in the franchise.

The third installment in the Avatar series continued the franchise’s strong box office performance. The film crossed the $1 billion mark globally within weeks of its release and eventually wrapped up its theatrical run with an estimated collection of around $1.48 billion. While it did not surpass the record-breaking numbers of its predecessors, it still cemented its place as one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

What lies ahead for the franchise

Despite the film’s success, James Cameron has hinted at challenges when it comes to continuing the Avatar saga. Speaking at an event, the filmmaker suggested that future films may require more cost-effective production approaches to ensure the franchise continues smoothly. He indicated that while upcoming installments are in development, they are not entirely guaranteed and depend on various factors.
