Avanti Finance boss learnt the importance of detachment while on a trek
Rahul Gupta feels there's a similarity between trekking and leadership.

Speaking of an interesting adventure he had while trekking up the famous volcanic mountain in Tanzania, he said, “Every day is an adventure. At Kilimanjaro, our return from the summit got delayed, and we had to stay over-night at the higher base camp, which isn’t recommended. Our guides had to make some temporary arrangements, as a few guys were too exhausted to walk down to the lower camp.”
However, the experience proved handy for the fintech venture boss, and he’s happy to apply this to work. “I learnt detachment. Frequently, you have to disconnect with all that is going on and think with a calm mind. Trekking, at some stage, is a solitary experience, even though you may be part of a group. Sometimes, leadership may also feel like that,” he said.
