Author Rashmi Bansal gets trolled for posting a job opening on Facebook
Last week, author Rashmi Bansal found herself in the midst of a fiery debate on unpaid internships, when she posted a job opening on her social media page. She was on the lookout for a full- time apprentice, who couldn't be employed elsewhere and was willing to work for free.

"You will get a small stipend. But apply only if you would have worked, even for free! Because I want to see that kind of passion and devotion," her post detailed.

When asked about the episode, Bansal said that she was "surprised by the negativity people seem to have pent up inside". Most people didn't seem to agree with her post, with harsh reactions coming her way. Bansal, however, says that public opinion and comments have not changed her mind.

"I stand by my offer of apprenticeship, which is different from internship. An apprentice learns specific skills working directly with an experienced practitioner and gets a stipend. He/she must have a learning mindset more than a 'job mindset'," she said.

The biggest lesson she learned from this incident, she says, is that words and intentions can easily be misunderstood online.
