The festive spirit has taken over India right now. While Navratri was celebrated with great zest, we are now awaiting the festival of lights, aka Diwali. Such occasions are synonymous with grand feasts, lip-smacking sweets, and savoury deep-fried snacks that we enjoy with friends, family and relatives. But unregulated festive indulgence can leave us bloated and sluggish, often causing sugar spikes. But you need not sacrifice the joy of seasonal traditions, as Delhi nutritionist Lovneet Batra has come up with some wonderful hacks.

Batra recently shared 5 simple and natural ways to manage festive overeating, reset digestion, and keep energy levels elevated throughout the holiday season. Let’s check them out.

Apple cider vinegar for sugar

Lovneet Batra suggests diluting 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in 300 ml of water if you consumed too much sugar. Drink it 15 minutes before lunch and dinner. The acetic acid can help moderate post-meal blood sugar spikes.

Isabgol for fried food

The Delhi nutritionist recommends mixing 1 teaspoon of isabgol (psyllium husk) in 300 ml of water. Then, consume it immediately, 10 minutes before lunch and dinner or before you attend a party. Psyllium absorbs water, forming a gel that supports bowel regularity.

Warm ajwain water for eating out

For those dining out frequently this festive season, the health expert advises sipping warm water mixed with ajwain, jeera and saunf 2 times every day. These traditional spices can ease digestive discomfort.

Chia seeds for maida

Lovneet Batra further shares the hack of mixing 1 teaspoon of soaked chia seeds into a glass of warm water. She recommends drinking it in the morning or before going to bed. Chia seeds offer dietary fibre, which absorbs water and helps add bulk to stools, supporting smoother bowel movements.

Fenugreek seeds for alcohol

Finally, the Delhi nutritionist suggests drinking fenugreek seed (methidana) infused water, which has been soaked for 4 hours. You can even swallow the seeds the next morning or before heading to a party.
