At Asian Games, PV Sindhu misses home-cooked biryani

The badminton star also craves for pizzas, pastas and chocolates.

PV Sindhu is hungry for gold, having narrowly missed most chances to finish at the top of the podium since last year. And as she waits her turn to satiate that medal hunger, she says home-cooked food is what comes second to that.

“I really like biryani that’s made in Hyderabadi style. I could eat it every day. Whenever I come back home after a win, celebrations begin with some biryani. The entire family sits together and enjoys it. My mother is the best cook,” the Olympic medallist told ET Panache. Outside of biryani, much like any other 23-year-old, Sindhu craves for pizzas, pastas and chocolates.

“Though they are not good for me as they are high in calories, I still enjoy all kinds of Italian food..but only once in a while,” she says with a laugh. Hope her coach isn’t listening.

Olympic 2016 silver medallist P.V. Sindhu made India proud last month when she become the first Indian to win gold at the badminton World Championships in Basel, Switzerland.



The 24-year-old shuttler has bagged the first-ever Asian Games silver medal for India in the women’s singles badminton event of the Asiad 2018. She also won her third medal in the women's singles final of the World Badminton Championships at Glasgow, and became the first Indian to win Korea Super Series Title.



The badminton player also featured in the Forbes 2019 World’s Highest-Paid Female Athletes list last month.
