At 5 months old, a Spanish baby started making abstract drawings. By 10 months, he had a Guinness World Record and paintings sold at exhibitions

Most babies spend their first year learning to sit, crawl, stand and slowly understand the world around them. John Christian Caldeira Weibull, however, was already making drawings at an age when most children are only beginning to hold objects properly. The baby from Marbella, Spain, started experimenting with an LED drawing tablet at five months old and went on to become a Guinness World Records holder before his first birthday.

According to Guinness World Records, John became the youngest male artist at the age of 10 months and seven days. His record was verified in Marbella, Malaga, Spain, on October 19, 2024.

It started with an LED drawing tablet

John's mother, Rubia Caldeira, introduced him to an LED drawing tablet when he was five months old. What started as an activity for a baby soon turned into something that surprised his parents.


John began scribbling on the tablet and creating abstract drawings. Rubia documented his early attempts through photographs and videos, allowing the family to keep track of how his interest in drawing developed.

By the time John was around six or seven months old, his parents gave him paints and canvases as well. According to the information shared by Guinness World Records, Rubia was surprised by the talent he showed while experimenting with different materials.

John has been described as an intelligent, active and observant baby, with his family encouraging his interest rather than treating the drawings as just a passing childhood activity.

From baby drawings to an art exhibition

John's work soon moved beyond the home. His artwork was presented at an exhibition in Marbella, where several of his paintings were sold.

Guinness World Records records the exhibition and record verification on October 19, 2024. His achievement came when he was only 10 months and seven days old, making the milestone particularly unusual considering how young he was at the time.

Another account from the International Star Kids Awards also describes an exhibition of John's work at Villa Padierna in Marbella. It says his collection, titled Breaking the Record, was connected to the Guinness World Record attempt and that five pieces had been sold even before the event began.

The International Star Kids Awards describes John as being born in Marbella and says he has a Swedish father and a Brazilian mother. His mother, Rubia, is also an artist and has played an important role in encouraging his early interest in painting.

John's artistic work has also reportedly found a place in some of Marbella's luxury venues. According to the International Star Kids Awards, some of his pieces have been displayed at Princes' Madison.

The young artist has also started exploring sculpture, suggesting that his creative experiments are not limited to painting and drawing.

At an age when most children are still discovering how to use their hands and interact with colours, John had already attracted international attention for his artwork. His Guinness World Records achievement has now given those early scribbles a rather unusual place in the record books.
