Rani Mukerji is earning praise for Mardaani 3
Rani Mukerji is making the right noises (again). The credit goes to her recently released film, Mardaani 3, where she once again slips into the shoes of a senior police inspector, Shivani Shivaji Roy. For the uninitiated, the cop drama is the sequel to her 2014 hit Mardaani, followed by its second instalment, Mardaani 2, which was released in 2019. Due to her active work schedule, fans may think that she follows a healthy and nutritious diet. But Rani is a true-blue foodie who steers clear of fad diets, currently taking over the world of health.

Rani Mukerji’s vibrant food picks

Rani Mukerji recently sat for a heart-to-heart conversation with media personality Fayed Souza. Among the many things she talked about, one that caught the attention of her admirers, especially the bongs, was the fact that the actress was a die-hard fan of Bengali dishes. When the host wanted to know whether Rani would ever adopt a trendy diet, the 47-year-old had the perfect response. Her short answer? “No”.

Explaining the reason behind the honest confession, Rani revealed that she likes fried fish and cannot have it any other way. That was not all, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star was equally fond of guud, aka jaggery. The traditional and unrefined Cane sugar is typically produced by boiling raw, concentrated sugarcane juice or palm sap. Rani added that even though guud does not come with a “sugar” label, it is indeed too sweet.

Apart from fish and guud, Rani Mukerji said that rice and aloo sheddo (boiled potato mash) remain a staple in her dietary regimen, admitting that although her gastronomical preferences can shoot up the glycemic index, she savours them minus any guilt.

Rani Mukerji’s daughter is a chai-lover

On the personal front, Rani Mukerji got married to filmmaker Aditya Chopra in 2014. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl, Adira, in 2015. Previously, in a conversation with TOI, Rani talked about how Adira developed a liking for kadak chai served in a traditional kulhad cup — a beverage rooted in Bengali culture, much like her mother.

Workwise, Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 3 hit the right notes at the box office, thanks to director Abhiraj Minawala's powerful storytelling. The film revolved around an investigation led by Shivani Shivaji Roy regarding the kidnapping of 93 young girls. Soon, it is learned that the mysterious disappearance of the missing children is actually a massive child trafficking and beggar mafia network run by a woman known as 'Amma'.
