Asus ROG Phone II review: A gaming beast at Rs 37,999
The device comes with 6.59-inch Amoled display, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.

Though gaming phones remain a niche, they have slowly started to gain traction. Asus recently unveiled its latest ROG Phone II starting at Rs 37,999.
The ROG Phone II has several India-first features, including 2.96 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset and True 10-Bit HDR Amoled display with 120Hz refresh rate (the highest seen on a smartphone -- with 1 millisecond response time). These specs make the ROG Phone II one of the most-powerful gaming smartphones around.
The phone comes in a premium metal-glass build with a glossy back, which partly registers fingerprints and smudges. The device has a sleek look with a ROG logo (with Asus Aura RGB lighting) at the back.
The 6.59-inch Amoled display comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 391 ppi density. There is no notch and the screen comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The display is Gaming HDR and Video Streaming HDR-supported.

The dual front-firing speakers also do a splendid job while playing games. We could hear footsteps in PUBG Mobile very clearly with the speaker volume at about 80 percent. Asus has equipped the phone with gaming-centric technologies like bidirectional airflow system, 3D vapour cooling chamber, copper heat sink, heat transfer vents among others.
While taking photos, there is some extraneous insertion of colour in the photos, in case of both rear and front cameras. The 6000mAh battery can easily last for a day with moderate-to-heavy gaming.
The ROG Phone II is a gaming beast that can be said to outclass the competition in the gaming smartphone segment, at least for now.
