Asus launches entry level Zenfone C for Rs 5,999
Riding high on the success of the Asus Zenfone 5, Asus has launched another phone in the Zenfone series, the Zenfone C. The Zenfone C is the successor to last year's Zenfone 4 and competes directly with the Xiaomi Redmi 1s and Moto E.

Zenfone C has similar design as the Zenfone 5 and comes in black, white and red colours. It has a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels but without Gorilla Glass protection. Hardware specifications include 1.2Ghz dual core Intel Atom Z2520 processor (CloverTrail), 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.

The phone has a 2,100mAh battery and Asus claims that it can deliver up to 29.8 hours of talktime on 3G. Other features include microSD slot for expansion (up to 64GB supported), dual SIM (dual standby) support, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, accelerometer, proximity and light sensor.

Weighing 150 grams, the phone features a 5MP primary camera with f2.0 aperture that uses Asus’s PixelMaster technology for improved photographs. The front has a VGA camera with f2.8 aperture for use in low light. For audio, the Zenfone C uses Asus proprietary SonicMaster technology to power its speakers.

Compared to the Asus Zenfone 4 launched last year, the Zenfone C improves upon the battery life and has a slimmer design. However, the Zenfone 4 has an 8MP primary camera, Gorilla Glass 3 for protection and is lighter in weight at 134 grams.

India is amongst the first country where the Zenfone C is made available. Priced at Rs 5,999, the Asus Zenfone C will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart from today. It will also be available in Asus exclusive stores from February 18th 2015.
