Ask Dr D: Why Tennis player Nick Kyrgios doesn't care about the crowd's reaction
Dear Dr D

I wanted you to vet my responses to news reports about me from the recent past. Easy, right? Here goes:

Report: "Nick Kyrgios gave little effort during the 6-3, 6-1 defeat, even patting easy serves over the net and turning away before his opponent’s serve had crossed the net. He said he was tired and bored."

Response: I was.

Report: "In a post-match interview, Kyrgios said he didn’t care about the crowd reaction because he didn’t owe them anything."

Response: It’s true. I don’t owe them anything. Report: After the loss, Kyrgios posted an apology of sorts on Twitter: ‘’I can go on about excuses but there are none.’’

Response: What’s the big deal about excuses?

Report: "Kyrgios was caught on camera muttering to Wawrinka: "Kokkinakis (Kyrgios’ friend and fellow professional) banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that, mate."

Response: I apologise for lying to him... I wasn’t sorry to tell him at all.

Report: "Kyrgios called his support team "retarded" during his Wimbledon victory over Feliciano Lopez." Response: Yes. They are. Report: "His suspension will be reduced to three weeks if Kyrgios agrees to enter ‘a plan of care under the direction of a sports psychologist or an equivalent plan approved by the ATP’. Response: I’m in touch with Dr D.
