“Salary expectations of grooms during wedding matches are insane... Those earning less than Rs. 1 lakh per month in IT are not even being considered. The mindset of parents requires a RESET. The post quickly went viral, amassing over 100,000 views within minutes. It sparked a flood of reactions from netizens, many of whom lamented the current state of the arranged marriage industry. Commenters shared their frustration over the exploitation and humiliation faced by men seeking a life partner, driven by the excessive demands of the bride’s family.
One user commented, “Marriage is one of the biggest crises in India. Unless parents adopt a more reasonable approach and guide their children, we’ll see a generation of working people marrying at 30-35 years, facing serious challenges in having kids. Many may remain unmarried. Unfortunately, I see unreasonable expectations from girls and their parents.”
However, not everyone agreed with Vineeth K’s perspective. Some argued that in metropolitan cities like Bengaluru, earning at least Rs. 1 lakh per month is a reasonable expectation. “How does a family survive with less than Rs. 1 lakh per month in metro cities? Monthly expenses without a child can be around Rs. 60,000. With a child, it will exceed Rs. 1 lakh,” wrote one user.
As this discussion rages on, it highlights broader issues of financial stability, societal expectations, and the changing dynamics of relationships in contemporary India.
