India and Canada may be at loggerheads over the Khalistani issue, but Indian netizens are dealing with the entire diplomatic debacle, the desi way - with sarcastic memes!

One X user asked his followers to explain the fiasco. In return, another user quipped that Akshay Kumar had been an undercover raw agent for India in Canada and orchestrated the fall of Khalistanis (a secessionist movement that advocates for the existence of a separate homeland for Sikhs) before switching his citizenship, referring to the fact, that the ‘Baby’ star did in fact succeed in acquiring Indian citizenship.

Another joked that the ‘Hera Pheri’ star escaped Canada in the nick of time! “Akshay Kumar gave up Canadian citizenship at the right time, just before the India-Canada tension. Akshay Kumar right now,” he wrote.


“Akshay Kumar took the right decision at the right time and became Indian.

Why India-Canada Relationship Soured?

The relationship between the two nations worsened when India expelled a Canadian diplomat in retaliation to Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, making an inflammatory statement, accusing the Indian government of being complicit in the assassination of Khalistan Tiger Force Chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar, who hailed from Jalandhar in Punjab was shot down dead near a gurudwara in Surrey in June. In India, his organisation was declared a terrorist group after Nijjar was accused of killing a Hindu priest as well as bombing a cinema in Punjab.
