As divorce with Jayam Ravi turns ugly, ex-wife wants a private chat with Tamil star

The subject of Jayam Ravi’s relationship with his erstwhile wife Aarti has become the talk of the town ever since their divorce became a public spectacle. Amid allegations of domestic abuse and very public spats regarding property rights and ownership of social media handles, Aarti had remained tightlipped about the details of their divorce. Recently, she issued a statement where she clarified that she chose to remain silent to maintain her dignity.

“In light of the ongoing public commentary surrounding my personal life, I find it important to emphasise that my silence is not a sign of weakness or guilt. I’ve chosen to stay dignified and not respond to those trying to portray me in bad light to conceal the truth, but I trust the legal system to bring justice,” read her statement.

She also said that she is still waiting to have a “private conversation” with her estranged husband.


She added that the Tamil actor announced his separation from her without her knowledge or consent. “To be clear, my previous statement referred to the public announcement that was claimed to have been issued through mutual consent. I maintain that this came as a shock and was not a reference to the unilateral divorce that is underway. It’s unfortunate that my words were misinterpreted,” she said.

However, Aarti said that she won’t be washing her dirty laundry in public or divulging salacious details. “I deeply respect the sanctity of marriage and won’t engage in public discussions that hurt anyone’s reputation. My focus is on our family’s well-being, and I trust God’s grace for guidance,” she wrote.

This move comes after the ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ star told Hindustan Times that he walked out of home “with nothing.” He also stated that he was ‘compelled’ to issue a public announcement because Aarti did not reply to the notices that were sent to her.

Jayam Ravi and Aarti had been married for 15 years and are the parents of two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.
