The Special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court today granted an extension of 60 days to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the drugs-on-cruise case involving Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Earlier this week, the NCB filed an application before a Mumbai session court, requesting an extension of 90 days to file the charge sheet in the drugs case. Hence, the SIT team probing the case had filed an application before the NDPS court seeking the extension.

The SIT in its application said that chemical examination reports of 17 samples were received on March 12 which substantiated the claim that all contraband recovered from the raid were narcotics/psychotropic drugs and fall under the ambit of the NDPS Act.

While the application mentioned that some of the accused were highly influential and had incriminating chats with foreign nationals and scrutiny of such chats were underway. However, the latest application has no mention of Aryan Khan.

Aryan Khan and several others were arrested from the Cordelia Cruise in the alleged drug case on October 3, 2021. Along with Aryan, his friend Arbaaz Merchant and others including Munmun Dhamecha were arrested following the raids on the cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

Aryan was released on October 28 after the Bombay High Court granted him bail nearly after a month. The court in its order observed that the NCB had no prima facie evidence against Aryan and two others for being a part of the alleged drugs conspiracy related to the case.
