Scentido India founder Shishir Mehta’s den reflects his love for Art Deco — and Whiskey, his pet Shih Tzu.

My den
“I call it my space. It is the room in my second home in Mumbai that I have converted into my haven. It is an extension of my personality — my likes, personal mementos, and a space for my pride and joy. To me it is like a home-office and a den which I work out of, relax and entertain. I spend about four to five hours here every day.”

Guest list
“I do entertain friends, not so many guests. If I could invite anyone to come by, it would be Amitabh Bachchan.”

All me
“I’m an ardent lover of the Art Deco style of design, hence all décor in the space is reflective of that. Plus, it is an overall clean, warm and inviting space. I have put it together over the years, with bits and pieces procured from different places. My space would never be done up with furniture that looked too modern. One of my favourite furniture pieces in the den are the Le Corbusier’s chairs.”

A classic bandhgala. It is a perfect ambassador of Indian style with its inherent lineage of Indian heritage, in a contemporary world. What makes the bandhgala interesting is that it can be worn differently in different parts of the world —be it with breeches, or with denims.
