apple: Are you ready for a brand new iPhone? Leaks reveal a radical, stunning design

Jony Ive, as he's popularly known, was not just the Cupertino-based tech giant's Chief Design Officer but also the right-hand man at the company, which he joined in 1992 as a member of the design division.

During his initial years there, he helped create the Apple Newton. And would've moved on after a 5-year stint, but rather was appointed Apple’s senior vice-president of industrial design by Steve Jobs who was himself returning to the group at the time. Ive and Jobs would go on to form a lifelong partnership; the late Apple founder had once said, "If I had a spiritual partner at Apple, it's Jony."

The British designer revealed in an interview that he and Jobs began work on what would become the iMac the day they met.

Ive, with Jobs and even after him, would go on to create some of modern day's most path-breaking products including the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Airpods among several others.

Here's a look at some of the devices that were made irresistible by Ive's designs.

Launched in 2001, the iPod was another collaboration between the two Apple legends. It soon replaced portable CD players, and was an instant hit. Such was the popularity of the iPod, despite it not being the first MP3 player, that even the white earphones that came with it made a statement. Ive's wheel design for scrolling through long lists of music was a winner with users.

A common sight not just on tech-geeks but fashionistas too, the Apple Watch managed to bridge the gap between technology and the fashion world. Introduced in 2014, the watch even at the time was among the best-designed smart wearables with its rectangular display, stainless steel body, and swappable bands. In the four years of its existence, the Watch has improved and changed to become an object of status and desire.

In addition to Apple's hardware and software, Ive also helped design the tech giant's new headquarters. Apple Park, spread over 5 million square feet, began in 2004 and officially opened in 2017. Its circular design giving it the appearance of a spaceship made it stand apart. It is powered by 100% renewable energy and is one of the largest, on-site solar installations in the world, generating about 17 megawatts of power. The design is such that it won't need intensive cooling or heating for nine months of the year.
