Archana Puran Singh's son revealed she developed an incurable condition after injuring her wrist
At the beginning of 2025, actor and television personality Archana Puran Singh faced an unexpected and painful health crisis. A severe fall resulted in a serious wrist injury, marking the start of what would become one of the most physically demanding phases of her life. What initially appeared to be a fracture later progressed into something far more complex, altering the course of her recovery and daily routine.

A Son’s Emotional Tribute

The extent of Archana’s struggle came to light through a heartfelt family vlog shared by her son, Ayushmaan Sethi. In the video, Ayushmaan spoke about the seven individuals he admired most, a list that included close family members and even their beloved dogs. His grandparents, his brother, and his father all found mention, but the highest place was reserved for his mother. As Ayushmaan spoke, the emotion overwhelmed Archana, leaving her visibly moved.

Before turning to his mother, Ayushmaan acknowledged his father, actor Parmeet Sethi, crediting him as the emotional anchor of the household and the creative mind steering their vlogging journey. He also applauded his brother Aaryamann Sethi for carving his own digital path with a new YouTube channel and for beginning a new chapter in his personal life through his engagement to actor Yogita Bihani.

Ayushmaan Sethi on Archana’s Strength

Speaking about Archana’s ordeal and determination, Ayushmaan said, “I am proud of my mom. She has had the hardest year, guys. She broke her hand, and she developed a rare condition called CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), which means her hand is never going to be the same again. She has shot for 2-3 movies and a web series. One month she shot during all 30 days, and she didn’t complain. She has shown me the resilience that it takes to be amazing. At 60-something years old, she has started a YouTube channel and all these cool new things, and that’s just incredible.”

A Mother’s Tearful Response

Deeply touched, Archana later addressed her audience, urging them to watch her son’s video. Overcome with emotion, she expressed immense pride in Ayushmaan, noting that he spoke about everyone except himself. She shared that while her children sometimes bring tears through moments of frustration, this instance was filled with joy, gratitude, and pride, making the tears all the more meaningful.

The Accident That Changed Everything

Archana’s injury occurred on the sets of the film Vicky Vidya Ka Wo Wala Video in 2025. The incident was documented in one of the family’s vlogs, capturing her cries of pain and the immediate concern of the crew. She was rushed to the hospital, but healing proved to be slow and intensely uncomfortable. Much of this difficult recovery journey was later shared candidly through her own vlogging content.

Surgery, Recovery, and Staying Positive

In a subsequent update, Archana revealed that she was undergoing treatment at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, where she had surgery to address her fractured wrist. Sharing a preview of the experience on Instagram, she reflected on maintaining optimism despite the challenges, admitting how difficult even simple tasks became with one hand, while still trying to hold on to positivity.

Understanding Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

According to the Mayo Clinic, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, commonly known as CRPS, is a chronic pain condition that typically affects a limb, often developing after trauma such as an injury or surgery. The discomfort experienced is usually far more intense than expected from the original injury. Although rare and not fully understood, early diagnosis and timely treatment can significantly improve outcomes and may even lead to remission.

Symptoms That Define CRPS

CRPS is marked by persistent burning or pulsating pain, heightened sensitivity to touch or cold, swelling, and fluctuations in skin temperature. Patients may notice changes in skin color and texture, abnormal hair and nail growth, joint stiffness, muscle weakness, tremors, and a reduced ability to move the affected area. For Archana Puran Singh, this diagnosis transformed a simple injury into a long-term battle, one she continues to face with resilience and resolve.
