Aaryamann Sethi lost a football career due to injury
Archana Puran Singh’s son, Aaryamann Sethi, recently spoke candidly about one of the most fragile chapters of his life—when a serious injury abruptly halted his promising journey in professional football. In a recent vlog shared by Archana, Aaryamann reflected on the emotional and physical struggles he endured, including a battle with depression and instances of racial discrimination during his time in London.

As a teenager, Aaryamann had earned an opportunity to train with England’s Queens Park Rangers, placing him on a potential path toward the English Premier League. With dreams taking shape, he made the bold decision to move abroad at just 14 years of age. Leaving the comfort of home was challenging, but with his parents’ encouragement and support, he relocated to England to pursue the sport seriously.

However, shortly after beginning to adjust to his new surroundings, an unexpected setback changed everything. Within weeks of settling in, he suffered a fractured leg. The injury forced him to pause his training and return to India, where he was hospitalized, underwent surgery, and relied on crutches during recovery. The sudden disruption not only affected his physical progress but also deeply impacted him emotionally.

Determined not to abandon his dream, Aaryamann returned to England the following year to give football another attempt. At the same time, he had to balance his academic responsibilities in the 10th grade. Still recovering from surgery, he found it difficult to perform at his previous level. Watching his peers grow stronger and advance athletically while he struggled to regain form left him feeling left behind, as though he was moving backward instead of forward.

During his stay abroad, he also encountered racist remarks. Despite the hurtful comments, he relied on the self-confidence instilled in him by his family to respond with composure and wit rather than anger.

Opening up about his mental health, Aaryamann emphasized that depression cannot be eased by mere reassurance. What truly helped him was the consistent presence and time his family devoted to him. He acknowledged that his mother, in particular, stood by him unwaveringly, offering strength during his most difficult period.
