Career coach Simon Ingari recently took to X to explain why applying for jobs between 7:50 AM and 8:30 AM can improve visibility and response rates from recruiters.
Why early job applications get noticed faster
According to Ingari, the timing of your application plays a key role in whether your CV stands out or gets buried in a crowded inbox. He explained that recruiters typically start their day by checking emails first thing in the morning. When a CV arrives during that early window, it is more likely to appear at the top of their inbox. As he put it, “your CV shows up at the top,” which increases the chances of it being seen before dozens of later applications arrive. He also pointed out that early submissions are often the ones that get first attention. If a recruiter is interested, these applications are more likely to receive the first call or message simply because they are reviewed earlier in the day.
The advantage of skipping the application pile
Ingari highlighted a simple behavioural pattern in hiring workflows. Most candidates, he noted, tend to apply during lunch breaks or after working hours. Because of this, applications sent earlier in the morning are less likely to get buried in a long list of new emails. He explained that early applicants effectively “skip the pile” and get seen first, which can make a meaningful difference in fast-moving hiring processes where recruiters shortlist candidates quickly.
A simple 10-minute routine
The career coach also broke down a practical system for job seekers who want to follow this approach consistently. He suggested:- Preparing applications the night before
- Saving relevant job links in advance
- Repeating the process daily
According to him, this entire routine takes around 10 minutes but can significantly improve visibility in a crowded job market.
Small habit, repeated daily
Ingari emphasised that consistency matters more than complexity. The idea is not to overhaul the job search process but to add a small habit that improves timing. He believes many candidates miss out simply because their applications arrive later in the queue, not because their profiles are weaker. The Economic Times Business News App for the Latest News in Business, Sensex, Stock Market Updates & More.
