We’re almost at the end of 2018 but the next few weeks are going to be exciting, thanks to some upcoming launches. ET offers some insight on what to expect from these devices:
Official Announcement – 29 October

OnePlus has been teasing the 6T for a few weeks now. But that won’t stop the rumors and leaks. It’s been officially confirmed that the phone will have an in-display fingerprint scanner and will skip the 3.5mm audio jack. They company has mentioned that the 6T will have a revamped user interface.

According to the leaks, it should have waterdrop style notch display, Snapdragon 845 processor with the usual 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage options. For the camera, leaked renders show the same vertical stack dual camera on the rear and we think it would be a 20MP + 12MP dual camera setup with OIS.

There are also rumors floating around about the addition of a new night mode, a slightly larger 6.4-inch amoled display, 3,700mAh battery, 25MP front camera and wireless charging.

Official Announcement – 30 October

Apple sent out launch invites for 30 Oct just a few days ago. Considering that both the iPhone and Apple Watch have been announced, this event is going to all about the new iPad. There have been several leaks already — they indicate two screen sizes with a sleeker design and slim bezels.

If rumours are to be believed, these new iPads will be the first iPads without a home button. And they will have advanced FaceID just like the iPhones. Screen sizes are expected to be 13-inch and 11-inch with Apple Pencil support.

Essentially, these would be upgrades to the existing 10.5 and 12.9 Apple iPad Pro. We’re also expecting the usual hardware update to latest Apple A12 Bionic chip and 512GB storage options. We might also see some new Macs at the event, specifically a revamped MacBook Air and Mac Mini.

Official Announcement – 31 October

At the Honor Play launch event, the company’s president showed a teaser for a successor to the Honor Magic phone launched in 2016. Called the Honor Magic 2, the device seemed to have a FullView display i.e. no visible notch or chin and a slide out mechanism for the cameras — again similar to the Oppo Find X.

They announced at the event that the phone will be powered by Huawei’s flagship Kirin 980 processor. Other confirmed news about the Magic 2 is that it will support 40W super-fast charging speed and will feature 15 layers of protection for battery safety.

The latest leaks hint that the Magic 2 might feature a brand new four camera setup on the rear like the one we have seen on the recently launched Samsung A9. Other rumours for the Magic 2 point to an amoled display and in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Here’s everything that you can expect at today's event:

If you like the new iPhones, you'll love what Apple is expected to unveil today.

New iPad Pros
Apple unveiled a new iPad at an event in Chicago earlier this year, meant for students and more casual iPad users. Those who wish to replace their laptops with something a bit slimmer have likely been waiting for an update to the more powerful iPad Pro, which was last updated in the summer of 2017.

Leaks and rumours suggest that Apple will release a thinner iPad Pro, sans the home button and mirroring the design of the iPhone XS. It is most-likely to have FaceID, the facial-recognition technology in the newer iPhones used to unlock the phones, and may have USB-C support, like its newer MacBook computers.

There’s also talk of a new Apple Pencil, the stylus used for drawing and navigating on the iPad. It will be as easy to connect to the iPad as a pair of AirPods (which use Bluetooth to detect a nearby device and automatically connect), and may feature a button to bring up menus on the iPad.

There may also be an update to the iPad Mini, which last saw a refresh in March 2017. While it’s possible that the small tablet might be refreshed, it’s worth noting that the screen size of the new iPhone Xs Max is only about 1.4 inches smaller than the last iPad Mini.

New MacBook Air
Apple hasn’t updated this laptop a while now and rumorus indicate that the company is overhauling the model or releasing a replacement. Apple is reportedly going to release a new low-cost (apparently under $1,000) laptop at the event, which will have an HD Retina display, a fingerprint scanner, and a slimmer design.

New Mac Mini
Apple’s other forgotten computer may also finally be getting a refresh. It will likely be a smaller box than when it was last produced, and contain a bevy of ports for users looking to hook it up to their AV systems.

New AirPods
There’s a chance that Apple will release a new version of its AirPods wireless earbuds which were first released in late 2016. There’s also talk that the new Pods could be released alongside the missing AirPower, Apple’s wireless-charging pad it first announced in September 2017, but hasn’t provided any updates on since.

The launch starts at 10am ET (7:30 PM IST).

The presentation will be streamed live from the Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn.
