Thanks to the trend of increased storage space on phones, we're getting used to have a hundred or so apps stored on them. But if you're like the typical user, you'll have a small subset (maybe 5 apps) that you open multiple times a day.
Standard protocol is to have these apps on the home screen right? So that you avoid searching or scrolling through pages of apps. But even if you do that, you have to first quit the current app, return to the home screen and then launch the new app.
App Tiles offers an easier way: it lets you add shortcuts for up to 6 apps in the quick launch bar in the notification panel. Since the notification panel can be accessed from within any running app, it becomes easier and faster to switch to your favorite apps.
During setup you'll be asked to select apps for each of the six slots in App Tiles. Once done, pull down the notification panel from top and tap the edit button for the quick launch bar - now you can select and move the App Tiles icon to your preferred place in the quick launch bar.

While the app is ad-supported, it only shows ads in the main app window and nowhere else. This means that you only you see ads is the initial setup and when you want to change the app selection. Overall, a very useful addition for customisation and productivity.
