No Indian film has ever won an Oscar. The last Indian film that made it to the final five in the Best Foreign Film category list was Ashutosh Gowariker's "Lagaan" in 2001.
"Mother India" (1958) and "Salaam Bombay" (1989) are the other two Indian movies to have made it to the top five.

The film, which had its world premiere at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival, featured Singh as an up-and-coming rapper who sets out to achieve his dream by rhyming about his life on the Mumbai streets. 'Gully Boy' is loosely based on the life of street rappers Divine and Naezy.
The film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Raaz and Siddhant Chaturvedi in supporting roles.

Actress Alia Bhatt is no stranger to filmdom. Being born to filmy parents - her father Mahesh Bhatt has produced and directed blockbusters in the '90s while her mother Soni Razdan has been a versatile actress - it was natural that she follow in their footsteps.
Thus it was no surprise when at 19, she made a stunning debut in Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year' in 2012. The film, a teeny-bopper romance, went on to become a runaway hit - and Alia Bhatt had arrived.
Seven years and 12 movies after ruling the silver screen as the leading lady, she has made a mark for herself with her acting, vivaciousness and versatility. As she turns 26, we take a look at all the films where she made an impression.
