The actress has often spoken about the importance of living a cruelty-free life. Since 2015, she has been a vegetarian and has embraced a near-vegan lifestyle, avoiding animal products, including dairy.
Once, when campaigning for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the Pari actress said going vegetarian can make you feel more positive and also strengthen your health. “Going vegetarian was one of the best decisions I ever made. I have more energy, I feel healthier, and I'm so happy that no animals had to suffer for my meals,” she said.
Her approach to conscious and balanced living has also had an impact on her husband, Virat Kohli, who adopted a vegetarian lifestyle for health-related reasons. The cricketer has publicly acknowledged that Anushka transformed the way he viewed life and relationships, saying that she encouraged him to become a kinder and more emotionally balanced person and brought a renewed sense of purpose to his life.
He has also credited Anushka’s affection and concern for animals with influencing his decision to completely stop eating meat. Her compassion, he explained, encouraged him to reconsider his choices and view his relationship with food and animals from a different perspective.
“I can never eat meat again because of her love for animals—it made me look at things differently,” he told Vogue.
