Anupam Kher dedicates his performance in 'The Kashmir Files' to late father; movie inches closer to Rs 250 cr-mark

The team of 'The Kashmir Files' is basking in the glory of its success.
The all-time blockbuster soon became a fan-favourite, and Bollywood star Anupam Kher's performance in the film was lauded by many.
On Thursday, the 67-year-old dedicated his performance in the epic drama to his late father, Pushkar Nath, a Kashmiri Hindu.
Sharing the last-clicked picture with his father, Kher said that Nath was the 'simplest soul on earth', and touched everyone’s life with kindness. "An ordinary man. But an extraordinary father. He longed to go to Kashmir but couldn’t," he wrote.

Based on actual events that took place in Kashmir during the 1990s, the movie depicts the struggles and pain of Kashmiri Pandits who were killed, tortured and forced to flee their own land after a communal campaign was unleashed by Islamist separatists with support from Pakistan. The film shows the ethnic cleansing and also how lakhs of Kashmiri Hindus lived in tents as refugees in their own country.

According to film trade analyst Tarah Adarsh, the fan-favourite movie is inching closer to the Rs 250 crore-mark in its fourth weekend. It has already reached Rs 236.28 crore in the domestic market since its release.

Meanwhile, the film received its censor clearance certificate in the UAE and Singapore, without any cuts.
