The day of the much-awaited big, fat, Indian wedding is getting closer.
The Ambanis and Merchants will get together for the traditional Gujarati engagement ceremony, Gol Dana, on Thursday evening, two days after the mehendi ceremony.
The ceremony traditionally takes place at the groom's residence. Some reports claim that the Gol Dhana ceremony will take place at the Ambani family's private residence 'Antilia' from 7 pm onwards.
The bride's family visit the groom's residence bearing gifts, fruits and sweets. After the blessings from the family, Anant and Radhika will exchange rings. After the ring ceremony, five married women will bless the duo.
As part of the pre-wedding ceremony, Gol Dhana, which means jaggery and coriander seeds, are also distributed among the guests.
The details of the wedding haven't been made public, but the official family statement said that billionaire Mukesh Ambani's youngest son and Encore Healthcare CEO Viren Merchant's daughter will tie the knot in the coming months.
On Thursday, the families joined the couple in the pre-engagement mehendi ceremony.
Dressed in a beautiful Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga, Radhika looked stunning in a custom-made, multi-colour silk lehenga with embroidered floral booties and mirrors. Dabboo Ratnani was the official photographer for the ceremony.
Reliance Retail Director and Radhika's soon-to-be sister-in-law Isha Ambani opted for a green-lavender kurta-palazzo by designer Anuradha Vakil.
Last month, Anant and Radhika's 'Roka' (betrothal) ceremony was performed at the famed Shrinathji Temple at NathDwara in Rajasthan in the presence of family members and friends.
The soon-to-be-wed couple received a grand welcome from the family members with a flower petal shower, dhol beats, and fireworks at the Worli sea link.
Later, the Ambanis hosted a lavish party for the happy couple at their Mumbai residence. B-town celebrities like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ayan Mukerji, Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge marked their attendance at the party.
Radhika is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer for eight years.
In June 2022, Radhika made headlines after the Ambani family hosted a grand Arangetram ceremony at Jio World Centre. 'Arangetram' is a Tamil word which means ascending the stage by a dancer on the completion of formal training. It is the debut on-stage performance of a student of Indian classical dance and music following years of training.
