After year-end Insta post on 'pain', Anoushka Shankar says 7-yr marriage to Joe Wright is over

Sitar player Anoushka Shankar and her director husband Joe Wright have called it quits after being married for seven years.

According to reports, Wright’s representative confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “I can confirm that Joe Wright and Anoushka Shankar recently ended their marriage. All parties are committed to the welfare and happiness of their two beautiful children and ask that their privacy be respected. No further comments will be made on this matter.”

Anoushka is the daughter of music legend Ravi Shankar. She is also pop star Norah Jones's half-sister.


The singer has two children with the British director.

In August last year, Shankar had taken to Instagram to share a picture of the couple.

However, her year-end post did drop some hints about a 'pain' in the year gone by.
