Ankur Warikoo’s wife earned 10 times more before taking Rs 20,000/month job. He shares a powerful lesson on success

Success is often measured through salary, job titles and career growth. But entrepreneur and content creator Ankur Warikoo believes the definition of success can look very different for different people. Sharing his wife Ruchi’s journey, he revealed how she once earned significantly more than her later income but still chose a path that made her happier.

In a social media post, Ankur Warikoo shared that when he first met his wife, Ruchi, he believed they were complete opposites. While he felt he had a clear direction and goals in life, he thought she was someone who simply went with the flow. However, as he understood her journey better, he realised his perception was completely wrong.

Ruchi’s journey of independence and ambition

Warikoo shared that Ruchi had been financially independent from a young age. Even during school, she earned money by giving tuitions and used it to support her own college education.



She continued working throughout college, completed her Master’s degree and secured a good job. By the age of 24, she had bought her first car and started investing. At the same time, she made sure to enjoy life, travel and create memorable experiences.


According to Warikoo, she spent eight years working before deciding to quit her job and take a month-long break to travel.

Choosing motherhood and a different career path

After becoming a mother, Ruchi decided to dedicate three years to raising her child before returning to work.
However, her comeback did not follow a traditional career path. Warikoo shared that she worked on creative projects, represented creative outfits and even spent time working on an organic farm.

During this phase, she earned Rs 20,000 per month, which was around one-tenth of what she had earned a decade earlier. Despite the drop in income, she was not concerned because it was a choice she genuinely wanted to make.

When Ankur Warikoo asked her to become his manager

Five years ago, Warikoo asked Ruchi if she would become his manager, and she agreed. He described her approach to life as fluid and adaptable, saying she has always lived on her own terms rather than following a fixed definition of achievement.


The couple has been together for nearly 25 years, and Warikoo said the one thing she has consistently wanted was happiness.

A different definition of success

Reflecting on her journey, Warikoo said that whether life was difficult or filled with opportunities, Ruchi always chose happiness. He added that growing up without money and later having financial comfort did not change what mattered most to her.

For him, she is the happiest person he knows, and that happiness itself is her biggest achievement. Sharing the lesson from her story, Warikoo urged people not to allow society to decide what success should look like. A higher salary, a bigger designation or a conventional career path may define success for some, but for others, fulfilment can come from freedom, purpose and living life on their own terms.
