Ankur Warikoo shares two simple life mantras that he lives by.
Ankur Warikoo shares his two life mantras
Warikoo said he recently shared two principles with his team that have shaped the way he approaches life. The first is straightforward: “Never complain.” He stressed that this means never complaining, “not even on the worst day of your life”. According to Warikoo, complaining can gradually make people feel powerless by convincing them that circumstances are entirely beyond their control.“Complaining robs you of your power,” he wrote, explaining that it can make people believe that things simply happen to them and that they have no say in what follows.
‘Always trust’ is his second mantra
Warikoo’s second principle takes an entirely different approach. He calls it “Always trust”. Rather than constantly questioning what others say or assuming the worst, he believes people should trust others at their word. He encouraged his followers to move through life with “a sense of awe and wonder” instead of allowing doubt to take over.Warikoo also offered a different perspective on dishonesty. “If someone's lies comfort them,” he wrote, questioning why those lies should be allowed to “discomfort us”.
Why Warikoo chooses two extremes
For Warikoo, the interesting part lies in the contrast between the two principles. He described them as “two extremes” and summed them up as “Never, and always”. He acknowledged that most people do not naturally live at either extreme. Instead, they exist somewhere “in the messy middle”, complaining occasionally, trusting selectively and remaining cautious at other times. But Warikoo believes deliberately following his two mantras can make the middle ground easier to navigate. As he put it, when a person takes care of “never complaining and always trusting”, the balance created between those two extremes can take care of everything else.
