Ankur Warikoo says 5 things matter most when you are choosing a life partner: ‘Watch how they treat….’
Marriages may, or may not be made in heaven, but life partners should not be selected in a hurry, believes Ankur Warikoo. The entrepreneur-motivational speaker who dated his wife, Ruchi, for seven years before they tied the knot, suggested five un...

How They Treat Others
The entrepreneur-influencer specified that one should observe how an individual treats others, specifically those who can do nothing for them or are in subordinate positions such as the waiter or the driver. “That is exactly how they'll treat people once you're together…” Warikoo cautioned.Conflict Resolution Abilities
Warikoo suggested you pay attention to how a person resolves conflicts or disagreements before making them your life partner. He admitted that although he and his wife have had disagreements, they have never fought. He also suggested observing if they escalate arguments instead of trying to resolve the misunderstanding. “When you disagree, do they fight to win, fight to fight, or talk to understand? That is what your life together will feel like…” he wrote.Power Of Silence
If you are truly comfortable with each other, silences won’t become awkward or suffocating. “There were days we barely spoke. And it was comfortable, because I knew she was there, and she knew I was.Every relationship has dull days. The silence should still feel easy,” he explained.
You Don’t Have To Dream The Same
Warikoo said a couple need not have the same dreams, but they do need to respect each other’s goals.Be Friends First
Warikoo underlined that friendship being the foundation of a relationship can make it last longer. Long before they became a couple, the duo were friends, and that helped them form a more permanent bond. “Before we dated, we were friends for a year. And a question crossed my mind: if I'd never fallen in love with her, would she still be my best friend? The answer was yes. We were friends first, then lovers. That distinction matters,” he stated.
He then concluded his post that marriage is like selecting a co-founder for the startup that is life, so one should not make decisions in a rush.
