Angikaaram OTT release date locked: When and where to watch Tamil sports drama starring Kotapadi J Rajesh and Sindhoori Vishwanath

Tamil film Angikaaram takes that route by combining a sports story with a courtroom battle. The film, which features Kotapadi J Rajesh and Sindhoori Vishwanath in prominent roles, was released in theatres earlier this year and is now moving to the digital space.

Angikaaram OTT release date and platform

Angikaaram is set to premiere on Sun NXT on September 25, 2026. The streaming platform has announced the digital release, giving viewers an opportunity to watch the Tamil sports drama online after its theatrical run.

The film was released in cinemas on June 26, 2026. Its OTT premiere therefore comes nearly three months after its theatrical release.


For viewers who missed the film in theatres, the upcoming Sun NXT release will bring the story to a wider audience.

What is Angikaaram about?

Angikaaram follows Aathiran Banumathi, a 200-metre athlete whose Commonwealth Games opportunity is taken away despite his achievements. He takes the matter to court, turning his sporting struggle into a fight for justice and recognition.

Described as based on true events, the film explores discrimination and institutional hurdles faced by athletes while also touching on Aathiran’s personal and emotional struggles.

Angikaaram cast and crew

Kotapadi J Rajesh, also credited as KJR, plays the central character of Aathiran Banumathi. Sindhoori Vishwanath has a prominent role in the film. The supporting cast includes Mansoor Ali Khan, Rangaraj Pandey, Viji Venkatesh and Vasundhara Kashyap, along with Ajith Koshy, Mohan Ram and Rama Rajendar.

Angikaaram is directed by Thenpathiyan, marking his debut as a filmmaker. The film has been produced by S K Prasanth, Ajith Baskar and Arun Murugan under the banner of Swastik Visions. Ghibraan Vaibodha has composed the music, while A. Viswanath is the cinematographer.
